Program Overview : APPLICATION DEADLINE 2/17/25! Girls Save the World is a dynamic 6-week leadership and STEAM program designed to empower middle and high school girls to innovate, collaborate, and create meaningful impact. This transformative experience includes a 5-week virtual leadership and STEAM curriculum and an onsite Prototype Challenge, with opportunities to showcase projects at EarthX. --- Virtual Leadership and STEAM Curriculum Each week focuses on leadership skills tied to a STEAM-based activity, encouraging students to "Grow Your Leadership." Week 1: Spark Your Vision - Leadership Lesson: Setting intentions and defining your "why" to grow a purposeful vision for leadership. - STEAM Activity: Design and build a DIY Hydroponic System to explore sustainable agriculture and innovative thinking. Week 2: Teamwork in Action - Leadership Lesson: Building collaboration and trust to lead effectively within a team. - STEAM Activity: Create a collaborative design for a mini greenhouse, emphasizing shared goals and teamwork. Week 3: Empower Problem-Solving - Leadership Lesson: Sharpening critical thinking and decision-making to tackle challenges with confidence. - STEAM Activity: Conduct experiments on soil composition and create nutrient-rich soil blends, exploring sustainable solutions for food growth. Week 4: Activate Your Creativity - Leadership Lesson: Unlocking creative potential to generate innovative solutions to real-world problems. - STEAM Activity: Develop a prototype for a water conservation system, blending engineering and artistic design. Week 5: Make an Impact - Leadership Lesson: Understanding the ripple effect of leadership and creating plans for long-term impact. - STEAM Activity: Build a sustainability plan and prepare for the Prototype Challenge, integrating lessons learned throughout the program. --- Week 6: Onsite Prototype Challenge (Location TBD) - Teams bring their prototypes to life and compete in an engaging Makerspace environment. - EarthX Opportunities: - Participate in the EarthX Workshop on April 21, where Rotary Clubs can adopt student Sustainability Plans. - Winning teams present on EarthX Day 1. - The top team presents to Rotary members on EarthX Day 2 What’s Included - 5 weeks of interactive virtual sessions (1.5 hours each) - Onsite Prototype Challenge experience - EarthX Workshop and presentation opportunities - Networking with community leaders and industry professionals - All materials and resources for the Prototype Challenge Program Dates - Virtual Sessions: Session 1: 2/24/25 or 2/26/25 Session 2: 3/3/25 or 3/5/25 Session 3: 3/17/25 or 3/19/25 Session 4: 3/24/25 or3/26/25 Session 5: 3/31/25 or 4/2/25 - Prototype Challenge:April 5/6 - Location TBD - EarthX Presentations: April 21-22, 2025
